ULg’s Laboratory of Human Motion Analysis (LAMH), set up in 2012, is shared between the faculties of medicine and applied sciences. It is financed by both the University of Liège and the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. The research project relating to the serve in tennis was initiated within the framework of the creation of CAPS (Centre d’Aide à la Performance Sportive - www.capsport.be) involving a cooperation between ULg, ULB and UCL. The goal of this structure, aimed at high level athletes, is to analyse how they play, how they run, how they move, etc., with the objective of improving performance and preventing injuries. The University of Liège’s contribution to this structure especially concerns the prevention of injuries in athletes. LAMH collaborates with the Association Francophone de Tennis (ATP) as well as other associations (ski, athletics, etc.), in order to provide support for all high level athletes under contract to the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, or all sports hopefuls likely to be under contract. The goal of LAMH is to offer athletes a complete analysis of their movements in a situation that most closely resembles their practice and training, in order to discover which situations may cause injury and to offer alternatives to maintain both a good level of performance while limiting the risk of injury. Prof. Croisier, the head of LAMH, initiated the ʺtennisʺ project, in collaboration with Prof. Forthomme and Dr. Schwartz. |
