Brown dwarf
|
A brown dwarf is an intermediary between a planet and a star. On the one hand it is not sufficiently massive to sustain hydrogen fusion within itself and thus shine like a star. On the other hand it is more massive than a planet. The criteria usually accepted to be a planet includes being incapable of burning deuterium, and thus having a mass lower than 13 times the mass of Jupiter.
