Yann

Yann le Pennetier, by his real name. Born in 1954, he is a comic strip writer of French nationality. In the 1980s he was famous for the creation of comic strips, of which some were published in the magazine Spirou, such as Les Innommables, for example. He also from time to time works for the great classics such as Spirou and Fantasio, or Lucky Luke.

Yeltsin, Boris (1931-2007)

Boris Nikolaïevitch Yeltsin entered Russian history in May 29, 1990, by becoming the President of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. He was also the first President of the Russian Federation, over the course of two mandates, from 1991 to 1996 and from 1996 to 1999, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In 1999, ill, he named one of his loyal supporters, Vladimir Putin, as the President of the Government.

Yukos

A Russian petrol company of which M. Khodorkovsky took charge in 1995 during the wave of privatisations of state property. In October 2003, the Russian government froze 44% of the company’s shares to prevent the sale planned by Khodorkovsky, who was arrested and sentenced to nine years in prison for tax fraud.
