The Virtual Office (Design Virtual Desk)

The virtual office is a digital design tool in which the concept of natural interfaces is entirely carried through to an operational level. It offers the designer a completely free and immersive work space. It thus offers a technology characterised by being perfectly adapted to working methods, the user’s natural practices and thought processes by offering a graphic work space that imposes no restrictions.

The ‘visible' part of the system thus consists of just a table (A0 format) and a digital pen. Two projectors placed in parallel hang from the ceiling and linked to a computer with two high performance graphic cards, each one of which is connected to one of the projectors.

How does the EsQUIsE software intervene within this framework? If one draws a room with the abbreviation BR written within it and another with the abbreviation BAT the software will immediately recognise them as a bedroom and a bathroom respectively and will, for example, put in place the type of wall which best separates them. It will also know that in one the height between the floor and the window sill is not the same as in the other, that it should be warmer in one than the other, and so on. The system thus allows for real help to designing and correcting at this stage and no longer only when the plans have been drafted.
