Heuristics

From the Ancient Greek eurisko, meaning 'I find'. Heuristics are descriptive rules that can be logically linked together in a problem solving mode (Heuristics-based decision support systems). In contrast to algorithms, or sets of equations, aimed at providing an analytical solution (Model-based decision support systems).
