Jacques Bair

After concluding his degree studies in mathematics, Jacques Bair joined François Jongmans  at the University of Liège, where he defended a doctorate devoted to convex geometry, and continued his education in taking the higher education certificate.

From 1977 he for eleven years taught industrial engineering students at the Huy ISIa. It was only in 1988 that he came back to the University of Liège, to take up Professor François Jongmans’ post.

In the years which followed he in particular took a very close interest in modelling economic phenomena, which he taught to business management students, before devoting his time more to didactics and rendering mathematics accessible to a wider public. He is today a member of the editorial committee of the French magazine, Tangente, which had noticed him following the writing of an article on the modelling of Justine Henin’s tennis services.
